Mayor Sandy Roberson during his State of the City address Monday outlined part of a long-term overall vision to have a new loop road — or at least the study of a new loop road — extending around the southeastern side of Rocky Mount.

Roberson said he would like for the proposed route to be a four-lane divided highway, but he emphasized he would like to have a study conducted first and also noted there has to be coordination with the state Department of Transportation.
