Bright colors of African or African-themed wares sparkled amidst vendor tents, including Neema and Company, a Rocky-Mount based boutique run by Requita Williams and her sister, Tiffany Lane. Skirts and headwraps made with authentic Ankari fabric, imported from Niger, rippled in the breeze.
Vendors of all types, food trucks, music and bounce houses around the lawn of the Helen P. Gay Rocky Mount Historic Train Station created an air of positivity Saturday during the second day of the three-day 2022 Juneteenth Community Empowerment Festival.
An afternoon market, “Farm to Fork: Tasting & Market Spring Harvest,” was held Sunday at the train station along with musical performances by Tevis Harris, Mark Green & Family Band and John P. Kee.
